Mama & Me: Danielle and Eva-Jean
Meet the latest in our Mama & Me Series, Danielle and her daughter Eva-Jean (EJ). We chat to our mama muse Danielle about how becoming a mother has shaped her, and EJ shares with us her favourite activity to do together. What do you do for a living?
I run the orientation program at a University.
In a few short words, how would you describe your daughter?
She’s smart and empathetic and full to the brim of sass.
What is your favourite way to spend time together?
EJ is a twin, so she loves it when we hang out, just the two of us. We like to hit the nail salon together or escape to the movies for some one-on-one time.
How has becoming a mother changed you for the better?
Sometimes I wonder if it HAS been for the better!?! Honestly, I think it’s made me understand myself – how resilient I am, how patient I can be and how I need to get out of my head sometimes and just relax and play. Kids are a fantastic mirror for us grown-ups.

What is the one piece of advice that you would pass onto your daughter to live a happy and healthy life?
Trust yourself and spend time developing all kinds of relationships – romantic relationships are not the be all and end all.
What do you think of the UNE PIECE brand and its vision to empower and build confidence in women?
The more brands like UNE PIECE demonstrate that women of all shapes, sizes and abilities deserve to be valued and happy and seen, the more this message of confidence will be passed onto our daughters and into our communities. Taking swimwear pics was a challenge for me because immediately I thought the swimmers wouldn’t look “right” on me. You know what I realised though? Being an UNE PIECE Ambassador wasn’t about me; it’s about EJ and letting her know that her Mum isn’t afraid of being who she is in front of the world.
